Google Voice Box

Enclosure

I participated in the 12 week "Google Hardware Product Sprint Program" where I had the opportunity to work with Google Mechanical Engineers/Product Designers in order to create an enclosure for the google voice box using CAD(Creo). I spent 11 weeks virtually learning about the DFM (Design for Manufacturing)/Design for Injection Molding process while working with my product advisor to ensure that my product would be manufacturable. The final week I was able to visit Google's San Jose location in person where I manufactured(3D-Print) and assembled my product.

Some of the revisions made include adding fillets to reduce high stress concentration areas. The core function of "Google Home Therapy" Device is to provide a stress relieving experience to the user. You tell Google Home how you are feeling today and in response it will recommend to you a certain essential oil that you should use based on your mood. Essential oil fragrances are powerful— a simple smell can immediately trigger a powerful memory, place, or person. Scents have power to evoke emotions and memories instantly and can directly impact our bodies through our nervous system. Essential oils like lavender have even been shown to interact the same way biochemically that many anti-anxiety medications do on neuroreceptors. I designed my product by creating a vase shaped diffuser large enough to encompass the google voice inside. My product is 7 inches tall by 4 inches wide. There is a slot to insert the essential oil as well as a battery inside to power it. The Google Voice will be still be inside of the diffuser case but it will sort of be separated in an waterproof casing on the Bottom so it won’t get wet. I will also incorporate Colorful Led lights inside of the product as well to add to the effect.
